Calculate your "happy" weight

Here is something a bit different than a typical BMI calculator. It's based on height, frame, and family history - all of which impact your weight. I think you'll be surprised at what your "hap py" weight is.

I'll just have to starve a little longer.

monicahac wrote: Wed, 2008-02-20 10:29

This "happy weight" was 10 lbs less than the typical BMI weight I'm supposed to aim for. How is that "happy"?

shaneika_j wrote: Wed, 2008-02-20 11:18

hmmm...i guess I have to make it work becuase I have 15 more pounds to lose.!

yeve wrote: Fri, 2008-02-22 20:56

This thing is crap. If I were to be the weight it says would be my happy weight, I would look anorexic.

ucdavis4 wrote: Tue, 2008-04-01 23:03

I agree with you. It's totally off.

boobaby098 wrote: Mon, 2008-02-25 22:27

I thought it was good...at least it takes body type into account, which bmi doesn't. I'm 12lbs under what it says, but i don't look "anorexic" as someone said. I think ppl r just upset cuz they realize they weigh more than would be ideal for thier height and build.

smarte7 wrote: Wed, 2008-02-27 17:30

i'm really tall....well kinda...5'7"!!!! i'm not happy the way i am but i'm actually under the "weight limit" 4 my height. Who cares? just try 2 b happy the way u r? Guys are gonna love u neways!!

jadeswan wrote: Wed, 2008-02-27 20:15

All I have to say is whoever came up with this isn't very happy. The idea is great but the "happy weight" is about the same as "ideal weight" so what's the point? I'm an almost thirty year old mother of two with a large frame and obese family members so I thought they'd cut me some slack but no such luck. I'll just go on being happy at the size I am without their approval. :D

yazzmena wrote: Thu, 2008-02-28 10:55

cool, I actually need to gain a couple of pounds.......

lilbeth07 wrote: Fri, 2008-02-29 00:19

not at all helpful, i even tried the sites other tests but unfortunately 2 out of 3 ask about age but have no answers if you happen to be under 21, if you put in an age below that it simply says too young. the only test there i could get an answer out of was the bmi, which let me know although i was within normal i'm on the heavier side of it...which for me is bad considering it doesn't take into account frame size and i'm small framed....i now understand why the doctors aren't too happy about the fact i've lost less than 10 since delivering my daughter who's now 4 months old

crissy26 wrote: Fri, 2008-04-04 22:05

I think they don't allow peopl under 21 to participate because they may be of a different mind set than adults. If a 13 year old who's boarderline eating disorder takes this test...and the answer tells them they're overweight, the results can be disastrous for them...you know what I mean? 21 yrs of age is considered the "adult" age (which is hilarious because there are a lot of peoplw who are very mature that are younger than 21), so to be on the safe side that's why no results will be posted for under 21yrs of age.

pinky pie prett... wrote: Wed, 2008-03-26 16:10

really? how tall are you?

pinky pie prett... wrote: Wed, 2008-03-26 16:13

yea i agree, you need to be careful about how much you weigh. you don't want to be too skinny. i used to be really thin like you when i was your age but then when i got older and got shaped more like a woman i gained weight and was depressed about it for a while it is normal. (by the way i am not like old and lecturing you or anything i am 18) :)

army_girl_09 wrote: Mon, 2008-03-03 15:27

ok, it doesnt tell you your "happy" weight if your two young on it scale. Which by the way, i think more young girls have problems with there weight than older women. By the way i am 17 and am fine with my body weight. But i would have liked to know what i was supposed to be!!!!

miss gelasia w wrote: Tue, 2008-03-04 10:33

thats pretty neat but not evryone has to be skinny just be ur self a little over weight is no big deal

powerwoman wrote: Tue, 2008-03-04 19:23

jskate22 wrote: Tue, 2008-03-04 22:00

ok well im a major yoga fanatic and its totally relaxing at the same time. Trust me tho it has major toning benefits...so thats a great start

pinky pie prett... wrote: Wed, 2008-03-26 16:16

i know you probably hear this a lot but walking everyday is an easier way to get in shape and i have read that it is just as good as running. on the plus side the more you weigh the more you can loose by walking so that is good. i do kempo and tae kwon do (martial arts) and i love it!! it is really good exercise on top of being super fun

patricia gillam wrote: Tue, 2008-03-04 23:21

It says my happy weight is 135lbs. Thats great news. This is my present weight!!!

chyrisse wrote: Thu, 2008-03-06 15:02

I only need to lose 5 pounds to get to my "happy" weight. Which is so true because that really is the weight that i am comfortable with.

reneefitz wrote: Sat, 2008-03-15 12:56

Whooo Hoooo! I don't need to loose...lol. I wish it was my Happy Weight..I'm female, is it "ever" a happy weight? ;o)

if1ookscou1dki11 wrote: Sun, 2008-03-16 10:37

my happy weight definitely isnt my HEALTHY weight. i'm pretty sure if i were that skinny i'd be hungry and grumpy - NOT happy!

lalabeth wrote: Tue, 2008-03-18 07:11

An important thing to remember, the often said "muscle weighs more than fat." According to BMI (body mass index) and even this system, Arnold (the terminator) is obese. technology has caught up though, if you can afford a scale that measures your body fat % by an electronic pulse. It shouldn't sting, can't say for sure, I am a poor broke student who can't afford it, lol. I shoot for looking toned, and feeling able to finish my hike or swim without shame. I like my gazelle and pilates, they help me gain endurance when I feel blobish. The gazelle is quiet enough to watch a movie during, and what motivates during a workout better than watching sexy people?

hmorgan13 wrote: Tue, 2008-03-18 07:22

this was actually pretty good.
I'm 5'5" and I'm under my "happy weight" by 3lbs. I know I'm not heavy, i just wanted to check this out. I think it's a pretty good test, but mainly for fun of course. you should always go to your doctor for the real thing. On line tests are true no matter what anyone says.

a_happy_goddess wrote: Tue, 2008-03-18 16:47

my happy weight is the weight i was when i get married and my goal weight. only 14 pounds to go!

vikyb5 wrote: Wed, 2008-03-19 00:36

This doesn't really apply to me. Im 5'4", 160lbs, but I carry alot of muscle on my lower body. seriously, I can leg press 460lbs. my Ideal weight is 140-145 and this calculator tells me that I should weight 130. That's just too low for me.

kjlady wrote: Wed, 2008-03-19 10:57

cool, that means i only need to lose 6 lbs!
