"Flawed" Models In Demand

"Looking back on the fashion industry's history, small breasts, gap toothed smiles, big behinds and plus sizes used to be automatically disqualify models. The industry has done a full 360 now; designers and photographers are learning that some of these so-called flaws can be used to their advantage ."

I totally like the idea, Oscarkitty because models shouldnt be perfect people(prettty, skinny.perfect smile)

stephanie023 wrote: Sun, 2007-12-30 22:09

they should be people just like everyone else(un perfect teeth, small breasts, short stature, etc)

but they shouldnt be ugly at all ,they should be pretty (not perfect) but neither should they be ugly and trashy.they should be mid term ,know what I mean.

I think they should be ordinary people they can still have class besides I think imperfections are beautiful. It helps to sell to everyone not just perfect looking people.

What about models with facial scars?

ch_lovin@msn.com wrote: Thu, 2008-01-10 16:29

That is an imperfection but can be easily covered up or photo shopped out.

'It helps to sell to everyone not just perfect looking people'.

Of course, but they play on the want of the consumer to look 'perfect'.

I completely agree with the industry's turn around 'coz a true african woman model is a plus size with big behinds and boobs not "miss slim n trim".

I want to be a plus sized model!

klmiller wrote: Tue, 2008-01-29 19:43

not the only one!

katita17 wrote: Mon, 2008-01-21 16:02

its a good thing for models to have imperfections b/c then we can actually think of them as real people, not just perfect clone people. this way we can relate to them b/c were not perfect & neither are they.

glamorous_me wrote: Thu, 2008-01-24 20:34

I think that there should be imperfect models. Not everyone is flawless and nobody cares to see people who are. That make you feel bad about yourself.

love it!:) all of those ppl were soo pretty who in the world would turn them down!?

ch_lovin@msn.com wrote: Thu, 2008-01-31 14:39

One thing they do need to completly eliminate is teh anorexic unhealthy model. They need to encourage a healthy diet (not a non-existant diet) and exercise. This would inspire a lot more people I think. I am thin but could use a little toning up and have a pretty big chest and when I see model that are anorexic with no chest I am completley turned off because I couldn't possibly wear it!

Fashion designers for years have made clothes for plus sizes that have flowers or cartoon characters on them. Now that the fashion industry is looking for a bigger market they are finally designing for the real women with flaws not their idea of a perfect woman

teddynanie wrote: Wed, 2008-02-06 23:29

its about time they looked at women in a real way
